Social Media Marketing : There are benefits to having a strong presence on social media

Are you credible? Are you trustworthy? These are the type of questions that your social media presence will answer! So, here are some of the benefits of having a strong presence on social media:

Increase the Reach and Awareness of your Brand

Have you come across the term “going viral on social media”? It simply means content that has been shared multiple times on social media. It happens when people love the content and want to let their friends and followers know about it. Imagine if it was your content. Just think how many more people would get to know about you and your brand? It’s free promotion too!

Establish Yourself as an Authority in your Niche or Industry

Imagine being recognized as a thought leader in your industry, an authority – someone that people look up to. You can create an authority website but social media can amplify your reputation to new audiences!

An active social media presence means that you are in business today and people will be more willing to do business with you.

Build Strong Relationships

When you have an active presence on a social network, you seem more “real” to your audience. You are now seen more than just a business but as people behind the business. You can talk to customers while dealing with issues related to your products and services. It is like having an actual relationship with them, which in turn encourages more loyalty from your customers and their long term business.  

Improve Customer Service

When people complain on social media and you are not responding to them you come across as uncaring. You don’t want that to happen. It will lose you customers quickly. Reviews are so very important to whether people choose your business or a competitor to do business with.

The best course of action is to communicate with an unhappy customer on their platform of choice. You can reach out to them, apologize and provide options on how to make things better.

The result will be happy customers, and your very public response on social media will even impress other people who see it!

Find New Customers

Social media can be a great way to find new prospects who you can then turn into customers.

It is all about building relationships. People are more likely to buy from someone who they have built up a relationship with. How many times have you come across a random website and bought a product from it straight away? Highly unlikely! The chances are you will look at their website and blog, if they have one. Then you will take a look at their social media presence and form an opinion of them. Only when satisfied that they offer the best solution will you consider buying something from them.  

Connect with Competitors and People with Similar Interests

Building relationships and networking with others is an essential part of running both an offline business and an online business and building connections with other people in your industry can be extremely useful. You can help each other out and give advice to one another, consider promoting each other’s products and do joint ventures where you build and launch products together. Over time these people become your online friends and support group. It can be very inspiring to connect with people who run similar businesses. It is good to meet up with some of these people and brainstorm with each other from time to time.

Spy on the Competition

You can discover a lot by watching how other people run their businesses –Sites like Twitter are great for seeing things such as promotions that your competitors are running or the types of content they are sharing.

Establish Yourself as the Expert You Are

Social media is also great for establishing yourself as the expert you are. By sharing valuable content and answering people’s questions you can share your own knowledge with others.

As a business owner, it is important that you have at least a basic working knowledge of what social media marketing is all about: understand how to connect and create relationships with people, especially those in your target market, and create excellent content that causes them to act.   Social media marketing is about communicating with your target audience, informing them about your business, and eventually getting them involved.
